HGEA staff will be on the flights to Kona with delegates on Wednesday (wearing green HGEA aloha print tops) and Thursday (wearing black HGEA polos) and will be at the check-in kiosk area if any assistance is needed.
Upon your arrival at the Kona Airport, we ask that you claim any checked bags at the baggage claim area and take it to the bus for transport to the hotel.
For delegates traveling to Kona on Thursday, please carry what you need for the convention with you on the bus (personal items, GA binder, etc.). We recommend you place these items in a carry-on bag for the flight to Kona. Upon arrival at the hotel, you will be dropped off at the main lobby and your luggage will be taken directly to the lower lobby for unloading and delivery to your hotel room.
The bus ride to the Hilton Waikoloa Village is approximately 35 – 40 minutes.
ARRIVAL AT THE HOTEL
At the Hilton Waikoloa Village, buses will unload members and staff at the main lobby of the hotel. Luggage will be dropped off at the lower lobby for delivery to guest rooms. Again, please make sure your luggage is properly labeled with your first and last name.
Wednesday, September 7
For those traveling to Kona on Wednesday for the state board meeting or a unit board meeting, you may check-in upon arrival at the hotel and receive your room key at hotel registration. If your room isn’t ready, you will be messaged when it is and will not have to return to hotel registration.
The convention center is not very close to the main lobby. From the main lobby, proceed down the grand staircase to the convention center OR take the tram or walk to the elevator near the top of the Water’s Edge Ballroom (convention center tram stop). Then take the elevator down to the convention center.
- The State Board meeting is scheduled for 11:30 AM on Wednesday, September 7 in Kings I.
- Lunch is from 12:00 noon to 2:00 PM in the Water’s Edge Ballroom.
- Members of unit boards that are meeting on Wednesday are asked to contact their unit support staff for meeting information.
Thursday, September 8
Upon arrival at the hotel main lobby and only if time permits, delegates may check-in and receive their room key at hotel registration. If the guest room isn’t ready, delegates will be messaged when it is and will not have to return to hotel registration.

- Convention registration begins at 9:00 AM on Thursday, September 8 at the Grand Promenade South.
- Lunch is from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM in the Water’s Edge Ballroom.
- The General Assembly will convene 1:30 PM in the Monarchy Ballroom on Thursday, September 8.
HOTEL PARKING
Self-parking at the Hilton Waikoloa Village is available at $39 tax inclusive per vehicle per day for registered guests. Valet parking is $55 tax inclusive per vehicle per day.
APPROPRIATE ATTIRE
Please attend General Assembly functions in business casual attire or attire designated by your respective bargaining units. Comfortable footwear is highly recommended, as the Hilton Waikoloa Village is a very large property, and it may take up to approximately 15 minutes to walk between guest rooms and the convention center. There is a free tram and canal boats that run through the property but please be aware that wait times vary. Those who choose to walk should be mindful of the distance.

KENDALL SCHOLARSHIP FUNDRAISER
